Local Knitwear Designer Lorraine Hearn is in the processes of launching her first book – “Aspley Collection Book 1” which aims to help raise £80,000 for Aspley Guise Lower School.
The children from the school modelled for the book and all the photos were taken by award winning Photographer Karen Parker.
Lorraine says, ‘Since I was interviewed by “Style Magazine” we have received wonderful support on this.
James Frost from the Frost Garden Centre chain in Woburn Sands came forward and modelled with the children for the Allotment shoot. Jacqui Dankworth also modelled with the children for the “Stables Shoot”. The Duke and Duchess of Bedford offered their stunning grounds of Woburn Abbey for the Woburn Shoot and Hollywood animal star “Warhorse” was transported over to be photographed with the children for the Woburn Shoot.
Local Press and knitting magazines have also offered their backing and have been brilliant..
The book also contains designs which cater for those growth spurts and even though the designs are modelled by the children the patterns are graded to adults too. I based the book in four themes “Woodland”, “Stables”, “Up The Allotment” and “Woburn Abbey”.
I wanted the book to not only be about knitting patterns but to show the children what it was like for me growing up in this area. The first of the five e-books has been launched on Ravelry – click on the link below. We will be loading on “Stables”, “Allotment” and “Woodland” and the main e book “Aspley Collection Book 1” over the coming days.’
