Leighton Business Woman Writes Bookzine for National Magazine

Leighton Buzzard businesswoman, craft tutor and joint founder of TheCraftTrolley.co.uk, Linda Gransby, has been inspiring local people to preserve their photos and memories in archival albums (known as scrapbooking) for the past 12 years.

Linda has now written a beginners guide to scrapbooking, encompassing advice on what to look for when choosing an album, essential materials, and how to deal with various artefacts such as photos; certificates; and medals & awards. The bookzine is to be published as the cover mount gift with national magazine Your Family History, and will be available in newsagents from today.

Scrapbooking is an fascinating activity, encouraging participants to save their family memories and photos in archival albums together with information about the images.

Linda said ‘I was delighted to be asked to write this guide to help people get started with this absorbing, creative and important activity. I love helping people connect with their photos and memories, and in the current gloomy times, its more important than ever that people connect with their family and friends and celebrate life’s happy moments. Above all, its great fun to do, no special skills are needed, and all ages can get involved, from the youngest child to the oldest grandparent!’

With the digital era upon us, photos are fast becoming an integral part of our lives. Scrapbooking is about capturing a memory by telling the story of the photo in a photo safe album to pass down through the generations. Perhaps even preserving a sample of our handwriting for our children and our children’s children to see.

Linda runs regular scrapbooking workshops across the county, if you’re inspired pick up your scissors and have a go, contact her for a schedule. She can be reached at Linda@lindagransby.co.uk or 07967 375150. The Craft Trolley website is www.TheCraftTrolley.co.uk

Vintage and Craft

and an excuse to show you my new, very old Imperial Good Companion typewriter which, as you can see is beautiful.

I bought it from a lovely man in Devon and it’s a joy to type with although there are no mod cons like exclamation marks ( I have to type an apostrophe and then backspace and enter a full stop underneath it!).  My son was horrified that the backspace button didn’t delete the mistakes, so I do need to buy Tippex, but won’t it be lovely to type real vintage labels for crafty loveliness?!
